Syrup Sandwiches is the brainchild of writer/ stylist/ creative director/ social media specialist / almost novel finisher and all around everythinger, Zakiyyah Walker. It started as plus size fashion blog in 2009 .  At that time, {SS} was known for its irreverent commentary on fashion; the plus- size community and how the two intersect overlap and oftentimes repel each other.  Today, after a lengthy  hiatus, it has evolved into so much more!

Syrup Sandwiches is the blog equivalent if Hip Hop…  It is current, opulent, sometimes thoughtful and more often than not, unapologetically braggadocious.  We know that being cocky and being a “lady” are not mutually exclusive ideals. In fact, we believe that the latter cannot exist without the former. (At least not in our world.)  This is a body and sex positive environment that understands that real women have curves, bones, guts and washboards, flat asses and big boobs. And it’s all good.

As the go-to site for pretty shit and pretty girls and  lovers of pretty girls that do pretty shit. {SS} employs an esoteric approach to beauty, fashion and lifestyle that is reserved for those of us that know how fly we really are. It’s a bit flamboyant, self – serving and narcissistic.  It’s trash glamour and in yo’ face. That’s how we like it.  Shy, timid and unsure types can have those other blogs.   Here – we’ll zig while they zag. POW!
